The “Unity In the Community” Archway represents our struggle to overcome the fracturing of the community family brought on by fear, distrust, hatred and a general lack of understanding of one another.

The "Unity in the Community Archway" serves as a metaphore for the House of Love. The Archway symbolizes the love we hold for our country, our friends, our family and the community in which we live. It stands as a reminder to those who view it, that in a world targeted by terrorism, filled with fear and uncertain of survival, we can create a future by working together.

The building of a “Unity In the Community” Archway is a work of art that is bringing together several hundred families through art. Seven hundred hand-painted tiles will adorn a structure that honors the community family. The tiles that make up the Archway are as diverse as the people who created them. They demonstrate each individual’s need to share their love through colors and symbolism. In a time of war and uncertainty, we look for signs that we will be all right and that everything we love will continue to exist in our lives.

The “Unity In the Community” Archway is one of those signs. It stands on the shore of Lake Dora in Simpson Cove in Mount Dora, Florida with its many colorful tiles represents a song from the show "The House of Love" On May 10th at 6:00PM, the community will gather in song and spirit and unveil the completed “”Unity In the Community” Archway. There will be a dedication of the Archway and its rose gardens, there will be a ceremony honoring one of our community’s very own “Mother J”, Adrianne Lowe, a reading of compositions produced by Mount Dora High School students on what “Unity” means to them, followed by dancing by the Lakemount Steppers, entertainment and food.

More than ever, we need to unite, put aside our fears and join hands to celebrate our children, our family and all that we hold most dear. Please gather together and be a part of this heartfelt community experience. Let us send a message to the world that we will not be trampled down or discouraged but that we will bind our communities together through love, beauty and art.
